Salt Therapy FAQ
What should I expect in a Salt Room session?
Each halotherapy session lasts 45 minutes. Our salt rooms allow for halotherapy to be experienced in a group setting. Private sessions are available by request for additional cost. Salt Therapy requires a device called a Halogenerator, which grinds salt into microscopic particles and then disperses them into a room where you relax and breathe normally. The finely-ground particles of salt are not visible in the air; however, you can feel the salt on your skin and taste it on your lips (yum!). Following the session, you may notice a faint layer of salt on dark clothing. The Adult Room is equipped with four Breathe loungers. These luxurious recliners rock you gently in accordance with your breath patterns. The room will be darkly lit and we ask that you “unplug” during your session. The Adult Room is equipped with headphones so that you can tune out and listen to relaxing, meditative sounds and music. We keep the temperature and humidity in the rooms at a level designed for the optimal experience. If desired, we provide soft blankets for your added relaxation. Please wear clean socks for group treatment rooms. Eden Salt Studio provides sterile booties to wear for your convenience as well. Lockers are available on-site to store your personal belongings such as electronics, shoes, and bags during your salt session.
How long does it take to alleviate symptoms?
This varies widely among individuals, and the condition being treated is a big factor. After the first session, many clients notice an immediate difference in their ability to breathe easier and report the best night’s sleep of their lives! Some conditions and milder symptoms will improve or dissipate within just a couple of sessions. Those with chronic conditions most likely need to come three times a week for the first 6-8 weeks. Those who come for stress relief and relaxation simply come as often as they like.
Is halotherapy safe for pregnant women?
Yes! Halotherapy is a great choice for expectant women who have asthma, allergies, skin conditions, and other respiratory illnesses during their pregnancy. It’s also a great way for expectant women to put sit back, relax, and put their feet up to relieve swelling. It is a 100% natural treatment that can alleviate symptoms and also boost the immune system. As with most activities during pregnancy, we recommend you check with your doctor before booking a session.
Is it safe to be taking in this much salt?
Consuming too much salt is linked to high blood pressure and other physical ailments. With salt therapy, you are inhaling a dry salt aerosol, which only enters your respiratory system not your digestive tract. The salt particles are so fine that even if you were to eat that amount it would not pose a risk to your health.
Are there any side effects?
Typically, there are no contraindications to dry salt therapy. Few individuals have experienced a slight throat tickle which can be treated with gargling warm to hot water. In cases with an individual that is highly sensitive they can experience slight skin irritation or red patches; however, they go away after a few sessions. If you experience increased coughing due to mucous buildup that means the salt therapy treatment is working. This is the body’s way of draining the mucous buildup. If you are concerned about potential side effects or interactions with medications, please consult your healthcare provider prior to attending a salt therapy session.
How clean are the salt rooms?
Salt has natural antibacterial properties and restricts bacteria from growing. Our ventilation system works throughout the entire session to circulate the air in the room, exhausting used air out and clean, fresh air in. There is no recycling of air back into the salt rooms. Chairs and toys are wiped down frequently. Blankets and headphones are sterilized and washed frequently as well. We ask that all clients entering into a salt room wear clean socks or the sterile booties provided by Eden Salt Studio.
